Five days planning
Day one: Darjeeling Arrival and local Sightseeing
You are greeted by a tour guide at New Jalpaiguri railway station or Bagdogra airport and transported to your hotel. After freshening up you join the others for local sightseeing or set off on your own, returning to your hotel room for rest.
Day two: Darjeeling Sightseeing
Today you leave at around 4 AM to reach Tiger Hill at a height of 8000 feet, a drive through tall forests and wait for the sunrise that bathes the Kanchenjunga in hues of gold and crimson. The Ghoom Monastery is next on your list followed by a brief visit to the Peace Memorial and then a trip on the Toy Train on the Batasia loop. After breakfast it is onwards to the Himalayan mountaineering Institute, the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center, a tea estate, the Natural History Muesum, the Japanese temple and Peace Pagoda and the Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park. After this hectic local sightseeing you relax in your room and have the evening free to stroll through the Mall.
Day three: Gangtok visit
Gangtok is a 3 to 4 hour drive. Located in Sikkim, Gangtok is where you will visit the Enchey Monastery, the Research Institute of Tibetology and taken in a flower show. If you visit Gangtok in spring, you will be able to view innumerable butterflies and Orchids in full bloom. Saunter in the local bazaars and sample local cuisines and rest in the hotel chosen for you.
Day four: Baba Mandir and Tsomgo Lake
These two locations are about a two hour drive from Gangtok. On the way you have a stopover at the Kyongnosia Alpine Sanctuary, at a height of 12300 feet and get to see the rare red panda and blood pheasants. You arrive at the Tsongo Lake where you will get to see local and migratory birds in their natural setting. Return to Gangtok hotel after a stop at the Baba Mandir and stroll through the Mall or go shopping.
Day five: Gangtok to Siliguri/Bagdogra/New Jalpaiguri
Early next morning your group leaves for Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri or Bagdogra since the tour has ended.
